The 2019 Syrah Sequel is a big, rich, meaty, powerful beauty offering copious amounts of ripe black fruits as well as ground pepper, chocolate, graphite, and spicy oak all soaring from the glass. It packs a punch, as always, with its ripe, sexy style, yet it shows the cooler, elegant style of the vintage beautifully and is balanced, has ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's going to cruise for 10-12 years in cold cellars.

Musky black currants, dried violets, grilled herbs and mocha can all be found as the 2019 Sequel Syrah smolders up from the glass. This is a textural animal, velvety-smooth with sleek contours and polished ripe black fruits.

This 100% varietal Sequel underweight 33% whole cluster fermentation and was stored in 65% new French oak for 18 months before bottling. The nose shows a dusting of white pepper with smoked meats, Kalamata olives, bacon fat and shades of boysenberry cordial. This shows great freshness and stuffing with very dense and hedonistic black fruit flavors alongside savory and salty notes. Finishing long, this is gorgeous Syrah that will live on for another fifteen plus years.

Aromas of dark berries, ground pepper and leather. Full-bodied with chewy tannins. The palate is rich, but there is a lift and good definition within the fruit profile. Nuanced. Black licorice and spice.

About 30% whole cluster was used during fermentation to enhance the mouthfeel and to add some tension to the backbone of the wine. It was aged for 18 months in 65% new French oak. Showcasing a deep purple core with a neon purple and blue rim in the glass, it explodes with notes of blackberry candy, herbs, crushed black olives, charred meat, and vanilla bean. Very savory and earthy on the palate, with crunchy tannins, wonderful acidity, and a lengthy finish.
