Five Things to do in Woodinville, Washington

Woodinville, WA is a special place. Nestled in the picturesque Sammamish River Valley, it's located 20 miles NE of Seattle, yet feels like a world away.

Famous for its wineries, tasting rooms, breweries, dining, outdoor activities and vibrant community, there is something for everyone. Whether you plan on making a day trip or staying a night or two, here are are some of our staff's favorite places to visit.

1. Wine Tasting

It's no surprise that we recommend you taste with us at Long Shadows, but did you know that we are part of a larger complex with five other wineries? The Old Redhook Brewery Complex features Long Shadows, Mark Ryan Winery, Fidélitas Wines, Latta Wines, DeLille Cellars, and Sparkman Cellars.

You could easily spend all day bouncing from tasting room to tasting room, each with its own unique style and offerings.

As for the tasting, sit back, relax and taste through one of our tasting flights (mixed, white or red) while you make yourself at home inside our tasting room or on the large, covered, outdoor patio with three fireplace tables and heat lamps to ensure you're comfortable no matter the season.

As you sip on the wine, you can sample flat breads and charcuterie boards meant to pair with your wines.

2. Dining

Woodinville offers a diverse culinary scene, with a variety of restaurants, cafes, and eateries to suit every palate. For pastries and lunch sandwiches, our staff loves Tarte bakery, adjacent to its sibling restaurant, Heritage. Tarte is inspired by extensive "wine country" travels, bringing the best from wine/tourist areas in California and Europe to Woodinville. When you indulge in one of our charcuterie boards you'll be pleased to know that the crackers are handmade at Tarte.

If you're looking for a casual lunch within walking distance to Long Shadows look no further than Hollywood Tavern. They offer casual drinks and bites and will provide the perfect break in your day as you recharge and head out for some more wine tasting. They also have cozy outdoor seating with fire pits.

For dinner, we love heading to Barking Frog. With an amazing Washington Wine list and farm-to-table inspired cuisine, this is the place to end your day and reminisce about all the fun you had. Bonus! They even have a vegetarian-specific dinner menu.

3. Outdoor Activities

The Sammamish River Trail is all that you really need to know if you're visiting and want some outdoor activities. The 9.5-mile trail starts at Marymoor Park in Redmond, passes through Woodinville, and ends at Blythe Park in Bothell. At Blythe Park, it connects with the Burke-Gilman Trail and continues another 18.8 miles ending at Golden Gardens in Seattle.

This trail is really three trails in one. It's a wide paved path, suitable for walking, jogging, and biking. A soft-ground trail runs parallel, perfect for horseback riding and some tame "off roading" mountain biking. And finally, the river itself is a third option, popular with kayakers and paddle boarders in the summer.

Along the trail you'll spot ducks, beavers, eagles, and a bounty of flora that will make you want to take a deep breath and soak in all of that wonderful, clean, air.

4. Woodinville Farmers Market

Open Saturdays, 10am to 2pm, May through September, the Woodinville Farmers Market is not to be missed. Fresh produce, boutique baked goods, artisanal sauces, cider, and other delightful treats await as you browse the selections and indulge your senses. The vibrant colors of the flowers, fresh fruits, and fantastic produce is a site to behold while the variety of samples and snacks will have your taste buds happy for days.

Our team even sources fresh apples for our charcuterie boards from the Farmer's Market while in season.

The Market is a quick 5-minute drive from our tasting room making it a great first stop to pick up some provisions as you head out for your day of tasting.

5. Art

Woodinville is home to a thriving arts community, with galleries, studios, and public art installations scattered throughout the town. If you're looking for a fun diversion from wine tasting, check out MoltenWorks Glass Studio. They offer classes and lessons. It's a fun outing for you and your squad.
