Created in collaboration with iconic winemaker John Duval, who crafted Australia’s most celebrated wine, Penfolds Grange, this alluring Syrah is produced by Long Shadows’ Director of Winemaking, Gilles Nicault.
Tasting Notes:
PDFDeeply colored and expressive, the 2022 Sequel Syrah is bold and beautifully balanced. Dark, spicy aromas lead to layered flavors of bright cherry, wild blueberry, and violet, interwoven with sweet spice, black olive tapenade, charcuterie, and a hint of rosemary. This well-structured wine offers depth and complexity, with ample mid-palate richness and mouth-filling viscosity. Silky, refined tannins extend through a long, concentrated finish to leave a lasting impression.
Vineyards
The 2022 Sequel Syrah is comprised of two primary vineyards, each contributing distinctive qualities to the wine. Red Heaven Vineyard on Red Mountain provides structure and backbone, while Stone Tree Vineyard on the Wahluke Slope enhances the wine’s depth and expressive Syrah character. A small portion of old-vine Syrah from Bacchus Vineyard adds richness and dark fruit intensity, rounding out Sequel to give it a bold, layered style.
